1
Day 1 - Benvenuti in Toscana
Individual arrival, dinner and accommodation at Palazzo Leopoldo, historical and romantic palace located in the town center of Radda in Chianti, where accommodation is synonym of beauty, comfort, charm, elegance and style.
At your arrival you will receive road book, maps and all the informations to complete the route of L'Eroica.

Day 2 - Gaiole in Chianti, Castello di Brolio e Siena
77 km – elevation gain: 1280 meters
From Radda in Chianti we will reach, through the small village of Vertine, Gaiole in Chianti, town where L’Eroica was born in 1997 and take place each first Sunday of October.
The original Eroica route starts in Gaiole in Chianti, winding among historical vineyards that lead you to Castello di Brolio with its cypress-lined entrance. The breath-taking panorama below the walls, over the vineyards, represents one of the most wonderful parts of the permanent route. After a few kilometers, near San Giovanni a Cerreto, Siena will appear on the horizon. The visit to this wonderful medieval city with its Dome, Piazza del Campo and the perfect medieval city center, will make special your trip.
Neat vineyards evolve into a more varied landscape, painted with the traditional Terra di Siena colours. Leaving the city of Siena you’ll ride through a very typical segment of the route, located between “Colle Malamerenda” and Radi, deep in the gentle hills of Siena, studded with farmhouses and medieval villages, merging your ride with the Via Francigena itinerary. The village of Murlo will be the backdrop to the easiest segment of the whole permanent route.

Day 3 - Montalcino and Val d'Orcia region
61 km – elevation gain: 1190 meters
The second stage start climbing Castiglion del Bosco, one of the most challenging gravel segments of L’Eroica permanent route. We will then reach the town of Montalcino, which sits over the beautiful and panoramic lands of Brunello di Montalcino world famous wine. Montalcino, also famous for olive oil and honey, is a nice village that it's perfect to visit the tiny roads and square or admire the incredible panorama over the Val d’Orcia region.
The descent from Montalcino will be a dive surrounded by the Brunello vineyards and will take you to the Val d’Orcia and Lucignano d'Asso, where you can take a rest with a typical snack or just to refill your bottle before to come back to the farmhouse.
The gravel road between Torrenieri and Lucignano it’s one of the most fascinating and characteristic of the Eroica route.
Before to come back in hotel, we'll stop in a Brunello winery for a wine tour and tasting.

Day 4 - Crete Senesi and Monte Sante Marie
78 km – elevation gain: 1530 meters
Left the villages of Buonconvento we'll ride in the Crete Senesi region, with the characteristic gullies and lunar landscape. Oak and cypress trees indicate isolated farms and tables are enriched by the diamond of Crete Senesi: the white truffle. This part of the permanent route includes the challenging gravel road of Monte Sante Marie, very famous steep road and part of the Classic Strade Bianche pro race, that will lead you in the Chianti region.
You will back in Chianti area through Castelnuovo Berardenga, the village on the border with the Crete Senesi. The road to Radda in Chianti will be a sequence of vineyards and woods, passing through pretty villages and farms, that can offer a wide range of typical products, wine and olive oil tasting, temptations that will delight your itinerary and your senses. Before to come back in hotel, we'll stop in a winery along the route for a Chianti Classico wine tour and tasting.
At the end of the third stage you'll receive the personal diploma of “Eroici”, souvenir of an incredible ride!
