Self-guided 4 days gravel bike tour to discover the most authentic Tuscany, pedaling on secondary gravel and white roads.
The tour, starting from Siena, includes the passage on historical routes such as L'Eroica route and the Via Francigena pilgrim road, to the Val d'Orcia UNESCO protected region.
The gravel roads will lead you to discovery villages full of charm and history, like Monticchiello, Montepulciano and Pienza, where you can taste typical products of the area, wine and cheese.
The second part of the tour will lead you to Chianti and Brolio Castle, before to come back to Siena.

Day 1 - Benvenuti in Toscana

Individual arrival, dinner on your own and accommodation in 3 stars hotel located very close the city center of Siena.
Upgrade in 4 stars hotel available on request with extra charge.

Meet and greet with our staff where you’ll receive all the informations to complete the bike tour.

Day 2 - Eroica and Via Francigena

62 km - Elevation gain: 1170 meters

The route of L'Eroica, cycling the Val d'Arbia region, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful views. - The Eroica route up to Castiglion del Bosco, the Brunello vineyards will take place of the wheat fields. - La Via Francigena, ancient pilgrimage routes that finishes in the beautiful city of Rome. - Final arrival at San Quirico d'Orcia, beautiful medieval town in the hearth of Val d'Orcia.

Day 3 - Val d'Orcia region

54 km - Elevation gain: 1220 meters

The landscapes of the Val d'Orcia region, one of the most beautiful place in Tuscany and UNESCO world heritage site - The Via Francigena road to Bagno Vignoni, where the main square of the village is a big thermal pool which contains the original source of thermal water - Riding on gravel road to Monticchiello, a small medieval and charming town - A quick stop at Montepulciano, with its winding streets and squares - Visit of Pienza, the "ideal" city of the Renaissance time, also famous for its Pecorino cheese - The chapel of Vitaleta, located in the middle of the wheat fields.

Take a relax break from the cycling journey and enjoy the SPA before dinner.

Day 4 - Crete Senesi and Strade Bianche

63 km - Elevation gain: 1090 meters

Third stage with long part on gravel roads and breathtaking views of the Crete Senesi - The Eroica route near Lucignano d'Asso, one of the most fascinating white roads of the whole route - A break in Buonconvento, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy - On the route of the professionals cyclist of the Strade Bianche, pedaling on the sector of San Martino in Grania - Arrival of the stage in Asciano, where a stop in the center of the village is mandatory.

Dinner and accommodation in typical tuscan agriturismo.

Day 5 - Castello di Brolio and Chianti

68 km - Elevation gain: 1390 meters
(shorter option available)

You'll start pedaling the challenging gravel road of Monte Sante Marie, which made the history of L'Eroica and the professional race Strade Bianche - Monte Sante Marie will lead you to the edge of Chianti region - The pretty village of San Gusmè, which will be reached through a technical segment in the middle of the vineyards of Villa Arceno - Villa a Sesta and the Castle of Brolio, the symbol of Chianti belonged to the Ricasoli family since 1141.- The route of L'Eroica up to Siena, the final arrival for the gravel tour.
